Banksy | Entry 1
There are many street artists in Great Brittain however, one of Banksy is the most popular one. Banksy is an anonymous British graffiti artist, painter, activist, and filmmaker. He is known for his stencil style artwork. He began with just graffitiing in Bristol, England in the 1990s, but since then he has expanded out across Europe. He has graffitied in Vienna, Barcelona, Paris, and even places in the United States.
One of Banksy's most famous street art is called Rage, the Flower Thrower and depicts a man rioting and about to throw flowers. This piece is Banksy telling people that there should be peace, not war. The flowers are the only part of the mural to have color, everything else is black and white. The flowers, if representing peace, show how Banksy values peace before everything else.

I think it is interesting that Banksy has kept anonymous as an artist because his work has received so much recognition and is already famous despite people not knowing who the actual person is. I think it's also very nice that he is spreading awareness through his artwork, and that because he is so popular he is able to spread any message he is trying to convey very easily which helps get his meaningful messages out. Banksy is a very interesting and mysterious person, but seeing from this article he seems like a person spreading good messages.
ReplyDeleteI found Banksy's piece so amazing, as the message is so simple yet so hidden. It shows a man throwing flowers, but it represents something much deeper. It was so nice to see how he was using his art to represent his beliefs and inspire people. It reminded me how fashion can represent messages and peoples belief, and how both art and fashion can serve as a release and escape.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, it's pretty cool that he's kept his identity anonymous for this long, normally if someone were to stay anonymous this long, someone would find their face and eventually post it everywhere. He's spreading peace throughout his art, something you find rarely in this world now. The messages he's showing can be compared to films that represent deeper messages if you have opportunity to really sit down and analyze it.
